Season 4: Episode 8: The Mountain and The Viper

Episode 7 Review
So we're on the hunt for two champions one to represent the crown and the ''lost king'' and one to represent Tyrion Lannister. Cersei doesn't just want her brother to die, she wants him wiped out, destroyed and annihilated!! So who better for the job than the monster that is ''The Mountain that Rides'' Ser Gregor Clegane!! Tyrion on the other hand is finding it a bit difficult to find a champion to fight for him. After being rejected by both Bronn and his own brother Jaime, Tyrion is coming around to the idea that he may just have to fight The Mountain himself. Enter ''The Viper'' Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne. Since The Mountain is the one that raped and killed his sister, Oberyn wants to take this opportunity to get his revenge and tells Tyrion that he will be his champion! . . . . . Oh what a battle this is going to be!!

Arya is making a nice little dent in her hit-list, and learning quite a few things from her kidnapper turned teacher, The Hound. She even tries to help him when he gets attacked and bitten by some poor ape that learns the hard way, that's not how you kill a man.

Queue her sister Sansa, this girl has to be one of the luckiest and yet unluckiest girls in Westeros. How she's still alive is beyond me, and she gets yet another lucky escape when little finger stops her psycho aunt Lysa from throwing her out the Moon Door (can't help but think that Joffrey would have liked one of those in Kings Landing!!). Littlefinger then betray's his ''. . . poor jealous wife'' and throws her out the Moon Door himself, but not before telling her that he's only ever loved one woman, her sister Catelyn. She was one insane woman, but after that you have to feel a little sorry for her!

Over in Essos Daario's advances on Daenerys are finally paying off. She isn't impressed by his gift of flowers that he said he had to swim a mile to obtain! However after telling her that she's the only woman that he wants and that his sword is hers until the day he dies, Dany seems impressed and orders him to take off his clothes while she drinks a glass of wine and examines the goods!!

We briefly fly to Dragonstone and the Wall and the Riverlands to see what Melisandre, Jon Snow and Brienne and Podrick are up too. We meet nearly every character in this episode to set us up for what's to come in the final three episodes!

Episode 8 The Mountain and The Viper
Please please please can this episode just be all about The Viper and The Mountain!!!

Unfortunately it can't!! So here's what will be happening in this episode;

We return to Ramsay Snow, who is sending Theon off to Moat Cailin where a gang of Ironborn are holed up. Is Theon so messed up that he will betray his own men? Probably seeming as he wouldn't even leave when his own sister came to rescue him!!

Imagine, Lysa's fall out the Moon Door has raised a few questions, and now Sansa has to testify. Will she tell them everything that happened and ruin Littlefinger's plans to set himself up as Lord of the Eyrie?

Nobody's listening to Jon's warning's on the Wall and now the Wildlings have reached Mole town. Next stop is The Wall. Will anybody listen to him now, and even if they do is it too late to protect themselves from a wildling attack?

And last but by no means least Tyrion's trial by combat! Oberyn's spear is pitted against Gregors giant sword. . . but who will survive? Sword or Spear. . . . guess what, we have to wait until June to see!!!

The next episode of Game of Thrones airs on Sky Atlantic on June 2nd at 9pm  and on HBO on June 1st at 9pm

Season 4: Episode 7: Mockingbird

Let's just have that speech again shall we?

'' I did not kill Joffrey, but I wish I had. Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a thousand lying whores. I wish I was the monster you think I am. I wish I had enough poison for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it. I will not give my life for Joffrey's murder. And I know I'll get no justice here, so I'll let the gods decide my fate. I demand a trial by combat!'' -Tyrion

Episode 6 Review
Tyrion never fails to impress and throw a spanner in the works! His father expected him to go quietly to The Wall and join The Nights Watch. He of all people should have known better, especially after bringing Shae to testify against him. If Peter Dinklage doesn't have another Emmy for Best Actor in the bag after that scene then there is something seriously wrong in the world!

Elsewhere across the narrow sea, Dany is learning the downside to being a Queen when she has to sit on a very uncomfortable throne and listen to her people's plea's and queries. Although her story isn't quite as interesting as in the past, at least the creators are moving her story along at a faster pace than in the books.

It's safe to say with Joffrey now dead and gone that Ramsay Snow is the new psycho, with a taste for torture, in town. When Yara comes to rescue her brother her plan goes wrong when she finds the cowering mess Ramsay has turned Theon into.

Episode 7 Preview: Mockingbird
We are going to be left waiting until episode 8 to see how Tyrion's trial by combat goes. However this is when the season starts to get exciting. We might not see a lot of Tyrion in this episode, but believe me for once, Sansa Stark will not fail to impress either.

The official synopsis for next weeks episodes tells us this:

''Tyrion enlists an unlikely ally. Daario entreats Dany to allow him to do what he does best. Jon's warnings about the Wall's vulnerability fall on deaf ears. Brienne follows a new lead on the road with Pod.''

Dany's got a new sexy dress!

Together with the trailer, this gives us a good idea of what's to come in the next episode. It is going to focus on the aftermath of Tyrion's daring demand for trial by combat, as well as highlighting unforeseen dangers for other characters.

''Mockingbird'' see's the return of Gregor Clegane, who we have not seen in a while and is, yet again, played by a new actor. Daario Naharis tries to woo Dany by talking about killing. We get another dose of crazy when Lysa is unhappy with Sansa again!

A rare moment of Sansa looking peaceful and happy!

Game of Thrones airs at 9pm Irish time on Sky Atlantic on Monday 19th May. Unfortunately we have to waitt for Episode 8 too see the outcome of Tyrion's trial by combat!

Season 4: Episode 6: The Laws of Gods and Men

Episode 5 Review
Episode five taught us that, no matter how much power you think you posses you are never entirely safe!! From the new boy King Tommen, to the Crowns money problems being exposed, to the events that unfold in Crasters keep. This episode was full of examples of how power, no matter how strong, never lasts long and doesn't protect you from everything. Two high born characters who have learnt this are Cersei and Prince Oberyn, both have suffered great loss and yet both posses great power.

Now some people may feel sorry for Cersei as we see a different side to the cold hearted woman we are used to. She reaches out to Margaery when she tells her that Tommen would be a good King to her, much better than Joffrey would have been. Margaery however still has her guard up around Cersei and replies with a remark about not knowing whether to call her Sister or Mother. After learning from her father that the Lannisters are completely broke and owe a lot of money to the Iron Bank Cersei agree's to marry Loras Tyrell. She then meets with Oberyn and asks that her only daughter be well looked after in Dorne. Cersei has gone from a powerful Queen regent to a woman who is forced to wed someone she doesn't want to for money, wed her son to a woman she dislikes and hope that those who her daughter now lives with will treat her well. Her power proved useless in the end!

Across the narrow Sea Danny learns that conquering a kingdom and keeping it isn't as simple as it may seem. As she takes over Meereen, she learns that the last 2 cities she overthrew have been reclaimed by the slavers. She decides it is not time to sail to Westeros and if she wishes to be Queen she must learn to rule, as well as know how to fight.

Sansa has arrived with Littlefinger at the Eerie and thinks she has escaped the horrors of Kings Landing. It's not long before she realises that the Eerie holds some terrors of it's own, especially in the form of her aunt Lysa. Maybe it's the lack of air from being so high up in those mountains, but the woman is still breastfeeding her 10 year old son! She's a bit crackers. She's a little obsessed with Lord Baelish and even attacks Sansa as she accuses her of trying to seduce her betrothed. Sansa is then told she is now free to marry her creepy cousin Robin. We also learn that Lysa was the one that killed Jon Arryn not the Lannisters and she lied to her own sister, because she is creepily besotted with Littlefinger and will do anything the man asks her.

We also caught a quick glimpse of Arya and the Hound. Clegane comes upon Arya practising her water dancing and mocks and reminds her that Syrio is dead and Meryn Trent is very much alive because he had armour and a sword. A little ironic then that in this scene where he mocks her old teacher in a way the Hound as become her new one.

Did anyone notice how this was the first episode without any nudity?

Episode 6 Preview The Laws of Gods and Men
Not many episodes left in this season!! It's going by too fast!

This episode revolves around Tyrion and his Trial. Will Cersei finally get what she wants and get rid of her brother! Tyrion finds himself in a similar situation to the one he was in when charged with the murder of Jon Arryn in the Eerie. Bronn came to his aid in that instance. With his father at the head of the trial, wanting him to confess and Cersei working behind the scenes will Tyrion ask for another trial by combat? And if he does who will fight for him?

In addition to Tyrion's trial, in this episode a familiar face returns to the North in the form of Yara Greyjoy. She is on the hunt for Ramsay Snow and wants to save her brother.

Stannis finally removes himself from Dragonstone and sets sail for the Iron Bank, surely he might cheer up a bit now? Unlikely. . . that man is quite depressing to watch!

Daenerys sits on the throne in Meereen, and it suits her.

The Laws of Gods and Men will air on Monday 12th of May at 9pm Irish Time on Sky Atlantic.

This theory will be proven. . . . just wait and see. . . Who's the Daddy?

Season 4: Episode 5: First of his name

To begin this post I'm going to clear up something that most people have realised by now,but some people haven't as they are still asking me! Yes they have changed the actor for Daario Naharis. Personally I don't think this actor fits the role of Daario, he's too much of a pretty boy to be a stone cold killer! He's meant to be the commander of the Second Son's, to me Skrein (the previous actor) fit the role much better, even if he didn't have blue hair and gold teeth as in the book!!
Skrein vs Huisman. . . who do you prefer?
Episode 4 Review
Season 4 seems to be changing a lot of things from the books, more so than previous seasons. There are 3 in particular I've noticed so far, particularly from episode 4. The first was the ''rape scene'' with Jaime and Cersei. This scene did happen in the books, but it wasn't near as ''rapey'' as it was portrayed on screen. I felt that was a bit unnecessary and from what I've heard most of you guys did too.

They've kind of thrown things into the air in the way they have changed major points of the story, in particular in the North at the Wall, where Locke, the man who cut off Jaime's hand has suddenly appeared. He was sent by the Bolton's as an imposter. This never happened in the books.

Now those who read the books will know that Bran's story has changed quiet a lot from the book itself. Instead of going on an extended journey beyond the wall Bran, Hodor and the Reed's find themselves captured and kidnapped by the mutineers at Crasters Keep. While the events in the book were intriguing, the way things are playing out in the show are much more exciting. Jon Snow is marching to Crasters Keep with his band of volunteers, completely unaware that the mutineers have his brother held captive. These things never happened in the books and it leaves me wondering if Jon will reunite with his brother and rescue him or will Bran and the Reeds escape before Jon know's they are there?

Episode 5 preview ''First of his name''

Episode 5 will bring us some new characters but it will also bring some back that we haven't seen in quite a while!!

We begin with Dany doing a headcount of her forces, and comparing them to those that might be waiting for her in Westeros. May we finally see Danaerys make her move West? After all Bran did have a vision of a Dragon flying over Kings Landing!

Speaking of the West and Kings Landing, Westeros has a new king in Tommen Baratheon. He appears to be a much more innocent less hostile person than Joffrey was, I mean he has a cat called Ser Pounce. . . . . but whether this is a good or bad thing remains to be seen. Margaery is trying to work her way into marriage (AGAIN) but she'll have to get past Cersei first, and she's not going to make it an easy job for her.

Lysa Arryn, Catelyn Starks sister, makes her return from when we last saw her in season 1. She obviously has a part to play in Little Fingers plan, but what is it? He seems to have a lot more interest in Sansa Stark than in his wife to be, which may be a cause for concern.

Jon Snow and his volunteers reach Crasters Keep for another battle scene. Will Jon arrive in time to save his younger brother, not knowing he's even there? Will Bran, Hodor and the Reeds escape before Jon gets there? Will Jon and Bran be reunited? Queue sword-fights, direwolves and Hodor!!

Arya is one of my favourite characters and isn't getting enough screen time in my regards! She has been re-united with her sword ''Needle'' and is looking to take another name off her list and by the looks of it she intends for ''The Hound'' to be next! Is this the end of their little road trip together?

Episode 5 ''First of his name'' will are at 9pm Irish Time on Sky Atlantic on Monday 5th of April.

And just for the record. . . . Jaime and Brienne. . . .you know what I mean!!
