Season 4: Episode 4: Oathkeeper

In all honesty, episode 3 of this season was pretty dull as episodes go, and the plot didn't really move anywhere. Don't let this fool you though, there is a lot more excitement and plot twists to come.

The boys in HBO aren't really giving anything away this season, as far as episode synopsis' go! We're being left guessing every week, as to what's actually going to happen.

Here's the trailer for Episode 4 ''Oathkeeper''

The official synopsis reads:

''Dany balances justice and mercy. Jaime tasks Brienne with his honor. Jon secures volunteers while Bran, Jojen, Meera, and Hodor stumble on shelter.''

Like I said, they aren't giving much away. We can guess from previous episodes in Season three and the end of the last episode that Danny is going to sack yet another slavers city and increase her every growing army.

Cersei asks Jaime to bring her Sansa's head, and we see Jaime give Brienne a task, however is it what Cersei has asked him to do or is he sending her out to protect Arya and Sansa?

Jon is the only one on The Wall that knows the full extent of what's going on beyond the wall, not only with the White Walkers but with Mance Rayder too. In these times the Nightswatch is desperate for man power to help it protect everything that lies South of The Wall, but who will help him?

We haven't seen much of Bran and his followers but as the season moves on we see more of him, this episode might shed a bit more light on where he's going!

There is a lot more death and surprise murders to come this season, I just can't wait for them to be aired so I don't have to keep them a secret from those who haven't read the books!!!

Episode 4 airs in Ireland on Monday 28th of April at 9pm on Sky Atlantic!

Where are they now?
In season 4 we are finally introduced to some of the members of House Martell of Dorne. We have heard them mentioned before but, in this season we finally get to meet some of them.

-Oberyn Martell is currently in Kings Landing for King Joffrey's wedding, but now Joffrey's dead and the place in a bit of a heap!! Tywin offers Oberyn a place on the small council, it's his indirect way of admitting that he will need Dorne when Daenerys finally comes to Westeros with her dragons. As Dorne was the only kingdom to escape the last time dragons attacked Westeros.

-Ellaria Sand is Oberyn's paramour and mother to four of his bastard daughters. She has come to Kings Landing with him and is causing quite a stir as she is bastard born, and we all know how most people feel about bastards in Westeros.

The Martell's are going to have a big part to play in Season 4 and the other season's to come. Might they be the family that could finally take on the Lannisters?!

A Game of Thrones History: Dorne

Season 4 brings us a few new families. My personal favourite is House Martell of Dorne.

Dorne

Is located in the southernmost region of Westeros, it is located thousands of miles from Winterfell and The North and has a harsh dessert climate. The customs and traditions of the Dornishmen are quite different to those of the rest of Westeros. This is as a result of the Rhoynar refugee's intermarrying with the Andals and the First Men approximately a thousand years ago.

The area in red shows the area in Westeros that Dorne governs.
Dorne is the only kingdom to have weathered the attacks of Aegon the Conqueror and remain a sovereign nation. It joined the seven kingdoms through peaceful marriage alliance almost two centuries later. Only one century before Robert's rebellion. As a result of joining through marriage and not conquest, Dorne was allowed to keep many of it's local customs and laws, such as equal inheritance laws for males and females. Due to the fact that the Dornishmen have very different ethnic, legal and political factors compared to those of the rest of the seven kingdoms, the Dornish are very independently minded and have a stronger sense of national identity. Bastards Born in Dorne are given the surname Sand.

Dorne is ruled from the castle of Sunspear by House Martell.

House Martell

House Martell was originally a small, obscure noble house in Dorne back when the peninsula was home to numerous small warring states about one thousand years ago. After the war in the east against Valyria, the Rhoynar, refugees from the war, fled to Westeros led by their warrior queen Nymeria. They landed in Dorne and allied with Lord Mors Martell. A brief war followed, after which Mors named himself the ruler of the unified kingdom of Dorne, using the title ''Prince'' rather then ''King'' in Rhoynish fashion.

Mors married Nymeria, this united the bloodlines of the Rhoynar with the native First Men and Andals. Under the ruling of the Martell's, Dorne used guerilla tactics to evade Aegon I Targaryen's conquest. Approximately a century and a half later Dorne was briefly occupied by King Daeron I, but overthrew him in a bloody rebellion.

Almost a century before the series begins, Dorne joined the 7 kingdoms through a peaceful marriage alliance.

The Martells were loyal vessels to the Iron Throne, marrying Princess Elia Martell to Prince Rhaegar Targaryen, who bore him two children. However during Roberts rebellion the Martells were unhappy with the fact that Rhaegar set Elia aside and took Lyanna Stark as his paramour, and thus provoked a war. The Martells stayed reluctantly loyal to the Iron Throne, mostly due to the fact that Aeyrs Targaryen was holding Elia as a hostage to ensure their loyalty.

The needless murder of Princess Elia and her children, quickly ended the alliance between Dorne and the Iron Throne and turned Dorne into an angry nation, bubbling over with hatred towards the Targaryens.  After the war and some powerful peace negotiations, House Martell swore fealty to King Robert Baratheon but still held a lot of anger and resentment towards the Lannisters for their part in Elias murder. Since then the Martells became very isolated and only mixed with the other big houses in Westeros when absolutely necessary. In conjunction with this they have stronger alliances with the free cities in Essos than the rest of Westeros.

The Tyrells and the Martells have been sworn enemies for generations. With Prince Oberyn being the one responsible for maiming Willas Tyrell, although Willas does not hold a grudge against Oberyn for this.

At present the Head of House Martell is Prince Doran. However he is ageing and, so, is preparing his eldest daughter Princess Arianne Martell to take over in his place. Prince Doran is semi retired and is leaving much of the day to day running of Dorne to Arianne.

Season 4: Episode 3: Breaker of Chains

So now that Joffrey is dead, the question everyone's asking is ''Who done it?'' There was plenty of people in attendance at the wedding, that have good motive to kill Joffrey, and that were pretty happy to see him die!

Personally it was a bitter-sweet moment for me! I loath Joffrey as much as the next person, but I love the actor, I think he does an amazing job at playing the little scumbag!!

Unfortunately this episode doesn't give us any answer's as too who our killer is!

While Tyrion Lannister is the one being blamed for Joffrey's death, he's left wondering if anyone in his family will come to his aid. The manner in which Joffrey dies leads everyone to believe that Tyrion was the one who poisoned him, but things are never that obvious in Game Of Thrones.

Daenerys arrives at the walls of Meereen and has a decision to make! Will she use her army and dragons to sack another city? Or will Meereen hand itself over quietly!!

In this episode we join Arya and The Hound again! Arya has seen and been through a lot for a child of her age! In fact she's been through so much she no longer seems like a child! For a girl of 14 she's already killed a number of people, and I'm sure she'll be knocking a few more names off that list of her's in the future.

We go North to the wall where Sam is taking stock of the personel at Castle Black. There are some big changes coming for the Men of the Night's Watch and I don't think many people will expect what's coming for them!

Season 4 is going to be amazing! Don't miss an episode!!

Season 4: Episode 2: The Lion and The Rose

Finally back in action! I was without internet for months so my poor blog as been very neglected! I'm back in action now and just in time for the NEW SEASON!! I am really, really looking forward to this season!!

I have read many reviews of the episodes of GoT and nearly all of them spoil the major moments! I try my best too avoid telling everyone what actually happens but let them know there will be a big moment in the episode! This episode is no different!

There's another royal wedding tonight and, well we all saw what happened at Edmure Tully's Wedding what will happen at this one?

We've had the Red Wedding, so now, I present to you the Purple Wedding!!

Joffrey and Margarery are finally getting hitched! This is the creation of George R.R Martin so somebody is going to die! But who killed them, will be the biggest question?

Ramsay Snow/Bolton has broken Theon Greyjoy down to nothing, and he has now become a creature known as Reek. Roose Bolton isn't too impressed when he arrives to find what Ramsay has done to Theon, but soon gets over it when he learns that Balon Greyjoy doesn't care for his son.

We also see Bran and his group for a short while in this episode. Stannis Baratheon and his Red priestess make an appearance too!

All eyes are on the wedding though! This is not one too be missed! Season 3 has a lot more excitement too come, this episode is only a taster of what we can expect! A few more big characters get killed off and we meet plenty more new ones to take their places!

With Season 5 and 6 being confirmed, we can all sleep soundly knowing we have at least another couple of years of this epicness!

The sooner book 6 is published the better!! :-P
